Terry

I was born and bred in the Black Country, right in the heart of the Birmingham Canal Networks 100 miles of navigable canals. With parents who would regularly take myself and my brother camping, climbing and hillwalking it was inevitable that we would both end up working outside of the office environment.

I worked for many years as an outdoor education instructor, leading groups in activities such as archery, quad bikes, ropes courses and climbing. Due to the seasonal nature of the work I started to work for the RSPB leading volunteer groups conducting nature conservation tasks.

Over time I found myself working full time as a warden, I built my experience over the years working in the highlands of Scotland and on reserves such as the Farne Islands, culminating in the position of site manager for a 1000 acre landfill restoration project which was opened by Sir David Attenborough.

For the last five years I have been living on a narrow boat and have once again become fascinated with the varied history of the Birmingham Canals and would love the opportunity to show you what I have learnt...
