Hal - Tour Guide in Berlin

The tour was lovely and filled with great anecdotes you would never hear elsewhere. Hal was kind, patient and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!

What a unique and thought-provoking tour! I've done Berlin 101 with another guide before but this was still full of new information, entertaining anecdotes and in general gave me a renewed interest in learning Berlin culture and history. Hal was a sweet guide with obvious experience as a performer and host; I would recommend his tour to anyone (and already have to some friends!)-- whether you're new to Berlin or not.

It was my first tour since I moved back to Berlin 3 years ago and I was surprised by how much extra funky knowledge about the history of my hometown exists! I loved the way Hal was presenting this Tour. Though it was extremely cold it was very much worth it nonetheless. Really enjoyed the ChitChat over Glühwein and Indian food afterwards as well :)) I can totally recommend booking a Tour with Hal! Mars

Hall is an outstanding tour guide who brings Berlin’s history to life through powerful, immersive storytelling. Their approach foregrounds the city’s underground political and social movements, including anarchist and queer networks, as well as Jewish communities. This focus was particularly compelling during our visit to the Denkmal für die im Nationalsozialismus verfolgten Homosexuellen in the Tiergarten, where we have immersed in the historical legacy of Hirschfeld’s pioneering Gender Studies and the subsequent persecution of queer communities under National Socialism. By carefully linking archival knowledge to the physical sites of the city, Hall enabled us to perceive how marginalized groups shaped—and were shaped by—Berlin’s urban landscape. Their delivery is marked by a refined,sharp artistic rhetoric that facilitates an immersive engagement with history, allowing listeners to momentarily re-enter the historical conditions under discussion rather than merely learning about them in abstraction.
