Hello everyone! I'm an economics professor, passionate about travel, and I believe tourism is an opportunity to learn about other cultures and ways of life. I want people visiting Medellín to have all the information they need to make the most of their time in the city. I want them to have a basic understanding of the available transportation options, the local cuisine, and the most popular tourist attractions, but also to know what locals do to have a great time.
I always make sure to join walking tours in every city I visit, but this one was truly different from all the others and probably the best tour I’ve ever been on! If you are genuinely interested in understanding the society, politics, history, and the deeper complexities of Medellín and Colombia beyond the typical tourist perspective, this is absolutely the tour to do. Jorge was incredibly passionate, engaging, knowledgeable, and funny throughout the entire tour. It honestly felt like attending a fascinating private lecture on Colombian history and society while walking through important historical sites across the city. What made this tour so special was how meaningful and intentional everything felt. Every stop helped connect Medellín’s and Colombia’s past to the present and gave valuable context for understanding the city and country today. Jorge answered all my questions thoughtfully, created a very welcoming atmosphere, and made the entire experience both insightful and so much fun. He also shared many recommendations for places to visit, things to do, bars, and local foods to try, which I really appreciated. Thank you so much Jorge for such an enriching experience!! As a tour, if you’re coming to Medellin for the first time, this is an absolutely must - do. You visit different neighbourhoods , get a sense of that’s good and what’s not so good about each, take the metro , etc etc. Jorge as a guide has a wealth of information for you as a tourist to use. Remember this isn’t t your quintessential history tour. Jorge helped me understand the metro map and the various lines, showed me maybe like 50-60 eateries, some for the local Colombians, some posh , introduced me to the supermarkets and ones that are local so not so expensive, went to an art gallery ! I mean we did a LOT. So yes, there is a lot of walking, easily about 12000 steps maybe more so do wear comfortable shoes :) I would totally recommend this.
Jorge ist ein großartiger Tourguide mit einem herausragenden Wissen. Er hat mit uns die Metro Karte gekauft und das Metro und Bus Netz ausführlich erklärt. Die Tour ging sogar länger als geplant und es hat uns einfach sehr viel Spaß gemacht.Wir haben viel über die Stadt, die Menschen, Essen und Trinken erfahren. Vielen Dank lieber Jorge 😀
