Oscar is a wonderful guide. He is super knowledgeable, kind and warm. We loved all the tasting places he took us and felt we got a peak Into the culinary scene of Ecuador. Everything was very reasonably priced and at no point Oscar gave us the feeling we had to buy something. But! I suggest you do try out stuff. I have used Guru through all my travels and I highly recommend it and Oscar as your guide for culinary and history.
There is nothing I could fault about this tour. We had Tefa as our tour guide and she showed us so much amd explained the history behind everything. Everything she had to say was so interesting. As well as this, we got to try so many different tastings. We got to try some traditional local alcohols (if we wanted), sweets and finally the chocolate tasting which including a full brieding about chocolate in Ecuador. She also showed us a local snack stop where we got empanadas for only a dollar. By the end if the tour, I think the whole group had agreed that this was the best walking tour we've ever done.
