The tour was very informative, but it was definitely not "alternative". We saw the main sights any traveler would see if they spend a day or two exploring Athens on foot, including the main government office and main shopping street (which is far from "alternative"). What does all the graffiti mean? Where do the artists live? This would be much more "alternative". It was a nice tour of the central neighborhoods, and our guide was very helpful about traveling tips around Greece. However, just know the type of tour you are signing up for.
