Mi chiamo Diarmuid, ho 24 anni e vengo da Cork, Irlanda! Attualmente lavoro nella produzione come produttore di bevande presso un'azienda produttrice di alcolici artigianali. Ho iniziato a lavorare nel turismo nel 2019, organizzando tour durante il periodo universitario nella mia città natale, Cobh, nella contea di Cork. Da allora, ho sempre amato incontrare visitatori da tutto il mondo, mostrando loro quanto sia unica l'Irlanda e cosa questo Paese abbia da offrire! Ho iniziato studiando tedesco e spagnolo all'università, per poi passare al settore delle bevande, dove ho iniziato a lavorare nel centro visitatori della distilleria Midleton. Lì ho accolto ospiti da tutto il mondo, organizzando tour dettagliati e degustazioni di whisky, studiando anche birrificazione e distillazione per iniziare la mia carriera nel settore. Da lì, ho continuato a lavorare in diversi ruoli nella distilleria, fino a passare alla produzione, dove produco sidro e brandy di mele presso un'azienda produttrice di alcolici artigianali locale. In qualità di storico dilettante appassionato e conoscitore della storia e della lingua irlandese, porto entrambi questi elementi nei miei tour, abbinandoli a un umorismo giovanile, per creare un'esperienza unica e mostrare agli ospiti provenienti da tutto il mondo cosa ha da offrire l'Irlanda!

Descrizione del tour

Join us for a historical walking tour through Cobh – lively, informative, and with a touch of humor!

The town of Cobh has a lot of sights to offer. Among other things, it is known as the last port of call of the world-famous Titanic.

Along the way, you will learn how a small fishing village became one of the most important places of the British Empire.

Our walk begins at the harbor, the heart of the town, where we will visit some magnificent examples of British architecture – including the original building of the world's first yacht club!

We then continue through the town, where stories of the millions of Irish who took their final farewell from home here to build a better future abroad are told.

We will also visit the former ticket office of the White Star Line, where 123 passengers boarded the Titanic – many of whom later met a tragic end.

The tour ends with a visit to the majestic cathedral. From here, you can enjoy an impressive view over the second-largest natural harbor in the world.

Additionally, you will learn some words and phrases from the Gaelic language along the way!

Payment is made on a tip basis at your own discretion.

On average, guests give between 10 and 20 euros. Every cent is paid directly to the guide.

The meeting point for the tour is located at the entrance of the Cobh Heritage Centre. The location is very easy to find on Google Maps. There you will recognize the guide with a green umbrella. To ensure you don't miss the tour, please be at the meeting point at least 5-10 minutes in advance.
