Description
See Picasso’s works in a new exhibition by contemporary artists. Pablo Picasso was interested in performers like dancers, entertainers, and bullfighters. He reflected this in his paintings and public image.
Marking the 100 years of his painting The Three Dancers, this exhibition by contemporary artist Wu Tsang and curator Enrique Fuenteblanca presents Picasso’s work in a fresh setting. The exhibition space will be turned into a theatre, displaying over 45 Picasso pieces from Tate's collection and important European loans. These include paintings, sculptures, textiles, and works on paper, some of which have never been displayed in the UK.
Picasso crafted a unique persona through his art, creating a myth around himself as both a renowned artist and an outsider. This idea is connected to the contemporary concept of ‘performativity’.
