Athens History, Philosophy and Democracy
Tour description
I want to be straightforward. This is not a tour, at least, not the usual "touristy" one! It's more of a "Philosophy" walk, where we will discuss about many subjects and we:
a. Will have an overview of the city’s ancient history and mainly discuss about its greatest achievements such as Philosophy, Democracy, Sciences, Arts etc.
b. Will examine together some of the ancient philosophical theories under a new light due to surprising latest scientific discoveries
c. Discuss the ancient Democracy compared to the modern
d. Walk next to many of the most important landmarks of ancient Athens and give you tips for sightseeings, activities, food, night life etc.
Please note, we do not enter in any of the archeological sites (you can do that on your own, or with a licenced guide, later on). The focus is to explore the ancient thoughts and their position in the modern world!
List of places:
1. Zappeion
2. Plaka
3. Tower of winds
4. Roman Market
5. Hadrian’s Library
6. Ancient Greek Market
7. Monastiraki
8. Filopappos Hill
9. Thission
The walk has an easy pace, with lots of stops and all you will need is comfortable walking shoes, water and a hat (on sunny warm days).
