Free walking tour through the Old Town of Panama.

The tour lasts 2 hours
Available in English and Spanish

Description

The Old City or Casco Viejo is the name given to the place where the city of Panama was relocated in 1673. This city, designed in a grid pattern towards the four cardinal points, was characterized by the agility of its streets and shutters, which was worthy of being considered a classic model of an Indian city. It is located on a small peninsula, surrounded by a mantle of rocky cliffs, within the current village of San Felipe. In 1997, the Old City of Panama was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

These are the places we will see on this Tour:
1. Meeting point at Plaza Catedral where the tour begins with the participants and the history starts at this point.
2. Panoramic visit of the Basílica Mayor Santa María la Antigua recently nominated by Pope Francis during the WYD 2019.
3. Visit to the Museum of the Mola about the history of one of the Panamanian ethnic groups. Available from Tuesday to Sunday. Closed on Mondays.
4. Panoramic Visit Church of San José.
4. Visit to the Jesuit convent
5. Visit to the Flat Arch and all its history that gave the go-ahead for the construction of the Panama Canal.

Note: it is very good to bring a poncho or an umbrella in case of rain, sunscreen, and always water to stay hydrated, the weather in Panama is unpredictable, it is also good to bring a copy of your passport on your mobile with the 'entry to Panama' stamp. If you take any medication, bring it or tell the guide that you need to take medication X at a certain time, a prudent person is worth two!
