Tour description

Guided tour of the Cathedral Museum and the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela that focuses on the history of the Cathedral and the tomb of the Apostle, the heart of the city that bears his name. We are official guides authorized by the Cabildo of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela to carry out these visits.

The tour begins by visiting the Cathedral museum. For this, the entrance fee for access to it will be previously charged. Prices are based on the Cathedral Chapter Rate, which ranges between €4 and €6 depending on age or if you are a pilgrim, retiree or student.

Tickets to the museum are mandatory for the visit and must be paid by each client.

We will tour with the guide authorized by the Cabildo the different floors and rooms where we will see works of art from the 13th and 14th centuries, the Renaissance cloister, the Chapel of Relics, the Chapter Library with incalculable writings such as the Codex Calixtino... and many other treasures that can only be seen by visiting the museum. This will be the threshold to the evolution of the Cathedral throughout the centuries.

Then we will go to the Cathedral, without queuing.
We will talk about the Portico de la Gloria and many other curiosities such as El Botafumeiro. We will be amazed by the majesty of the Baroque altar with the image of the seated Apostle in the center of the 13th century. This image is to make the long-awaited hug that pilgrims make once they have reached the goal of their pilgrimage. Every detail of the altar has its meaning. We will continue our tour of the central nave and adjacent ones, minor chapels and under In the dressing room of the High Altar is the sepulcher of the Apostle Santiago along with those of his two disciples Teodoro and Atanasio.
