Hi everyone! I am Ahmed, accredited official tour guide by the Moroccan Ministry Of Tourism. As an avid walker and history enthusiast, I wanna provide everyone with a chance to see Casablanca through the lens of a local. Beneath the modern and sophisticated frame, lies a city still proud of its heritage, culture and friendly locals. Showing the authenticity and genuineness side of my city, along with creating a safe friendly environment, where ideas and views can be exchanged in a smooth manner, is one of my main goals. I look forward to sharing the love for my hometown, eagerness for its history and craziness for Moroccan cuisine with you guys!

Tour description

  1. As someone, who was born and raised in Casablanca, I have always been fascinated by how my beloved city is divided into two parts, and basically into two worlds. Once a humble fishing village, It’s remarkable how Casablanca has withstood the test of time and mushroomed into one of largest cosmopolitan metropolis in Africa. Having said that, my tour is going to be focused on two of the main parts of Casablanca.

  • The first part of this walk is going to be dedicated to the French colonial town with its magnificent blend of Art Deco and Neo-Moorish architecture, it’s an open-air architectural museum where French legacy and influence can still be seen everywhere from buildings and churches to movie theaters.
  • During the second part, we will dive into the old medina with its red rampart and unique Islamic and Moorish architecture. Once we get there, we will wander aimlessly through its maze of alleyways and witness how average Moroccans live their day-to-day life, from souks and communal ovens to local coffee shops.
  • We’ll conclude this with a walk in the maritime promenade along the Atlantic Ocean where you can see the most opulent mosque in the African continent, which is Hassan II mosque.
  • I have created a unique itinerary with the purpose of taking you away from typical tours and experiencing Casablanca’s historical and cultural aspects.

If you want to get a quick feel of what Casablanca is as a city rich in history and culture, availing Ahmed’s tour is a good start. His itinerary is loaded but you won’t get overwhelmed with information, which is perfect for a 2 hour and 30 minute walk. Walking with Ahmed feels like you are revisiting a familiar city with an old friend. Would recommend!
