General Cemetery of Santiago: An Open-Air Museum
Tour description
General Cemetery of Santiago: An open-air museum.
In this tour, we will be able to discover this important architectural jewel and historical monument. In addition to finding beautifully adorned graves, we will walk through some of its streets. An opportunity to connect with art, silence, and nostalgia in a kind and respectful way. It is not intended to be a spooky tour but rather a contemplative one.
We will visit the most important tombs and mausoleums in architectural and historical terms (Italian Mausoleum and its stained glass windows, Gothic mausoleums, exotic mausoleums, Green Chapel, Yellow Chapel, among others). We will be able to enjoy a very green tour as it is full of trees and gardens.
We will meet at the Cementerios Metro station (Recoleta) and walk to the southern sector of the Cemetery (Avenida Zañartu) to end the tour at the Hospitales Metro station (Independencia). Approximately 2 hours of touring.
Dare to discover the city of the dead.
