Tour description

SMALL GROUP - TimeOut Coolest Neighborhood - Sheung Wan Street Art Graffiti meets Old School Charm
Hello travelers! I'm Sue, the wise guru from HK :)
In this tour, we will visit Shueng Wan, including Tai Ping Shan Street. The place that was hit by a bubonic plaque in 1894, and the exact same place which is now glorified by TimeOut as the 7th coolest street in the World.
We will also talk about Dr Sun Yat-Sen, our leader who overthrown the Qing Dynasty and set up the Republic of China, as well as Ai Weiwei, the Chinese artist that influenced HK's street art scene.   To top it all up, why not visit our city's hippest and coolest tourist chainstore GOD and take a picture against the HK Wall, another IG sensation for the hip and young?
The old and the new side by side within a stone throw... Where can you get this, except in HK, the Pearl of the Orient? Join me and discover more...
To top it all up, we will take a ride together on HK's oldest transport system, the Tramway 🥰.

  • Western Market (FREE Inside visit) Learn about the oldest market in HK.
  • Wing Lok Street (Dry Seafood Street) walk along Wing Lok Street and Bonham Strand and you will find them lined with specialty shops selling rare and expensive dried seafood.
  • Ko Shing Street (Chinese Medicine Street) Stroll down Ko Shing Street, also referred to Medicine Street, via Bonham Strand from Wing Lok Street, and you will see it packed with traditional Chinese medicine shops and dispensaries, which are much different than the ones in the West.
  • Cat Street Market (FREE Inside visit) Learn about Chinese Zodiac, Ivory/Woolly Mammoth Teeth Trade, Chinese Cyrstallography and understand where the first settlements in HK took place.
  • Hollywood Road ApreciateChinese antiques and street art.
  • Man Mo Temple (Outside/Inside visit) a declared Grade I monument,  as it was built in 1847 and still largely unchanged with many original features to be seen.
  • Tai Ping Shan Street (Time Out Coolest Street for 2022) a location well-known for its contemporary art, with plenty of pop-up galleries and other specialty retailers offering their wares to shoppers passing by.
  • PMQ (Police Married Quarters) (Outside/Inside visit) a Grade 3 Historial Building, a mixed-use arts and design venue now, but a site which, after damage during WWII, was repurposed as quarters for married junior policemen, in which residential units were turned into exhibition spaces, studios, shops, and offices for creative enterprises.
  • GOD Hollywood Road + the HK Instagram Wall I will show you hip tourist artsy store for cool souvenirs and take a pic at the HK Wall - one of HK IG sensation.

Brilliant introduction to Hong Kong. Susanna was engaging and very knowledgeable on Hong Kong and the wider context, plus even gave some great food recommendations.

The heavy rain didnt dampen the enthusiasm of Su! Our walking tour brought us to the different streets and levels in HK, visiting old buildings to cool ones and understanding the history and purpose of these buildings. Tour was at a good pace, Su allowed us to engage her freely and was always happy to show us a little more of everything. Looking forward to join more of her tours, if she has more ;) . Cant deny that she has excellent knowledge of the areas we visit and excellent knowledge on where to visit!
