Tour description

Get to know the magical town of San Juan La Laguna where we will visit different workshops such as: chocolate, painting, textiles and honey, it will be a tour where you will learn the culture of the town, we will spend in the streets of the umbrellas, the main ones and the hats, They are emblematic full of color, perfect for the souvenir photo, you will hear live marimba music, you will also see the murals where the Mayan worldview is captured.

San Juan La Laguna is one of the twelve towns that are on the shores of Lake Atitlán, however, it is the most visited by tourists because it is a town full of color, it is characterized by the tourist development that has reached quickly due to Its community organization through cooperatives has objectives such as the empowerment of women, the access of its inhabitants to higher education as well as sustainable tourism development.

The places to visit are:

  • Cafe San Juan

You will learn about the importance of coffee in Guatemala, the history of its beginnings, we will go on to see the Bourbon and Caturra type coffee plantations, in the same way you will learn about the process until the final packaging.


  • Xocolatl, chocolate factory

Place where you will learn the importance of cocoa for the Mayan culture and the variety of products that are made with cocoa, you will taste different types of chocolate and some types of rum.

  • Umbrella Street

One of the most colorful streets in San Juan La Laguna, where you can see hanging umbrellas, the street is painted with local fabrics and you will hear live melodies to the beat of the marimba, a perfect place to take souvenir photos.

  • Alix Art Gallery

Expression of local painting with the theme of corn, where art is appreciated, in the place the importance of corn for the Mayan culture will be explained to you, you will also be able to discover your Mayan nahual based on the date of your birth.


  • Weaving house, textile workshop

Demonstration of how fabrics are made, using ancestral techniques and methods, starting with obtaining the thread from the cotton, passing through the thread being dyed and woven until the final product.

  • Mayan bee world, honey tour

Place where you will learn the types of bees that exist and their importance in the ecosystem, you will taste three types of honey and you will learn about the different products that are made from honey.

  • hat street

The street of hats is another of the colorful streets of San Juan La Laguna, a perfect place to take souvenir photographs and learn about the culture of this beautiful magical town.
