This is Aly, an Egyptian citizen, Egyptologist, and officially authorized English-speaking tourist guide. I have been in this profession for more than two decades.

La poire Cafe
As it is a famous cafe, located in the corner of El Tahrir Square, opposing the main gate, we are to start from there. It is the meeting point. It is where you see all the landmarks of the iconic square.

The Egyptian Museum
Exploring inside the museum is the main theme of the tour. I'll decode the messages ancient Egyptian civilization conveyed to us. We are to trace ancient Egypt's history , interpret the artifacts, statuary, etc... to reflect their social life, their view of specific concepts, such as beauty, feminism, worship, parenthood, purity, etc... the tour is carefully tailored and devoted to put words on lips of the statues in the museum. In short, our approach is very much"Walk and let monuments talk" ....

Outside visit
Omar Makram Mosque
Located at the corner of El-Tahrir Square, with its outstanding minaret, this mosque is the most famous mosque in the neighborhood. In 2011, during the Arab Spring uprising, this mosque, along with a nearby church, was used as field hospitals when injured Egyptian youth demonstrators, Muslims and Christians were rushed into the both shrines in a non-discriminatory manner!

Free tours don't have a fixed price. At the end, each person contributes to the guide the amount they consider fair based on their satisfaction. As a guideline, Guruwalk recommends between €15 and $50 per participant.
