Free tour - The Paris of Buenos Aires. Palaces and legends of the Buenos Aires aristocracy.
Hello, I'm Evelyn and I'm a Tour Guide student. I could say that I am also an explorer in this great world. Where my passion focuses on traveling and discovering new places. Being able to learn from each space, culture and people that surround us. I feel that traveling is FREEDOM, JOY, LOVE for the world and you are curious to get to know it even better. If that interests you, you are passionate about that. I invite you to accompany me on this path and that you can enjoy every legend, every story that we can know as much as I do. I INVITE YOU TO BE PART!
Tour description
Retiro is a neighborhood where the Buenos Aires aristocracy settled since the 18th century. But also territory of patriotic struggles, slave depots and even spaces for popular entertainment.
Today we find a large number of vestiges of the mansions of those wealthy families who chose it to get away from the yellow fever epidemic.
That is why this place preserves the most beautiful palaces in the big city.
On this tour, we will visit the Kavanagh building that houses one of the best kept legends of the Buenos Aires elite of the 20th century, full of love and revenge. It has privileged views of the Santísimo Sacramento Basilica and the ravines of Plaza San Martín, where General San Martín installed the barracks of the Horse Grenadier Regiment and where a cenotaph commemorates those who fell in the Malvinas Islands.
We will visit the old Plaza Hotel , one of the most important hotels in South America for many years that keeps within its walls anecdotes and curiosities of the Buenos Aires elite.
The square is also surrounded by the Haedo Palace , which has been under reconstruction for many years. The grandiose Paz Palace will surprise us with its architecture and somewhat dark legends.
The San Martin Palace will dazzle us with its architectural beauty, as will the Estramagou Palace, where its French-style façade will make us feel as if we were in another country.
Finally we will enter the most "Parisian" street that houses exuberant beauty with its palaces and bars.
A guided tour that will undoubtedly be balanced between history and legends/anecdotes of that important neighborhood.
