Hello travelers! I am a black woman, proud of her roots and idiosyncrasies. I will be very happy to tell you about the Yoruba or Santería religion, also known as Regla Osha/Ifá, its importance in the formation of the Cuban nationality and its conservation and practice today. You will discover Cuba and Cubans through their African spirituality.
The history of the Cuban nation could not be told without the African heritage. The music, dances, songs, gastronomy, in short, the culture of this country contributed to forming the pillars of the Cuban nationality. In open resistance, all of this reaches us to this day through the Yoruba, Santería or Regla Osha/Ifá religion that knew how to maintain and reinvent itself despite Spanish colonization.
Do you want to know what the Yoruba religion is, how it came to Cuba, how it is preserved and practiced today? Who are its main exponents, how much does the formation of Cuban nationality and the impact of Spanish colonization owe to it? This adventure will captivate you with the passion to tell it, live it and practice it in first person from the mystique that its orishas and deities awaken in the streets and museums.
I will wait for you next to the Statue of José Martí in the Central Park, I will wear typical purple outfits used in Yoruba ceremonies. 15 minutes after the agreed time we begin the tour.
