From the real Venice to that of the North passing through other countries. I like learning about the history and culture of other countries, but knowledge is of little use if it is not shared.
Welcome to Amsterdam! I'm Filippo and I will be your guide on this walk through history, culture and curiosities related to the city and the Netherlands.
I will take you to discover this city with comparisons between yesterday and today, guiding you through its different phases which have gradually transformed what was once a fishing village into today's vibrant and cosmopolitan metropolis, forging its culture and character.
In our tour of Amsterdam there will be no shortage of lesser-known gems and tips for enjoying the city to the fullest.
Our tour will develop in different stages:
1. Central Station (Amsterdam Centraal)
2. Beursplein
3. Dam Square
4. Red Light District
5. Jewish Quarter - Zuiderkerk
6. Nieuwmarkt
7. China Town
8. Zeedijk
9. Central Station - from which you can then reach your next stop
You are ready?
Put on some comfortable shoes and we'll see you in Amsterdam Centraal on the wall of the Metro stairs which are located between the station exit and the Victoria Hotel - I've put our meeting point among the photos of the tour.
There aren't many guys with yellow hats (fortunately) around, if you see one there, bingo: it's me.
See you at the wall of the escalators between the main entrance of the station and the Victoria hotel (you see the writing above the hotel). I'll be wearing a yellow hat, you can't miss me.
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
