Historical Tour of Amsterdam
Welcome to the most comprehensive FreeTour of Amsterdam, where you will experience the Dutch Golden Age and the darkest years of the Second World War. We also won't forget the Social Revolution of the '70s that shaped the city's personality to the present day.
We will begin our tour at the foot of the Westerkerk, the largest Protestant church in Amsterdam. We will walk by the Anne Frank House and the famous Jewish quarter of Jordaan, where we will tell you about the Nazi Occupation and the Holocaust within the city. We will explain the secrets of its Dancing Houses, the construction of the Canal Ring and the importance of the Tulip throughout the country.
Walking through the heart of the 9 Streets, we will head to Dam Square and its bustling surroundings. Meanwhile, we will show you the Royal Palace and the National Monument where you will learn about the first hours after the Nazi Liberation and the foundations of the Dutch Monarchy during the 80 Years' War.
Next, we will visit the Begijnhof, home to the first independent nurses of the Church during the 13th century.
We will end our FreeTour at the Flower Market, next to the famous Rembrandt Square. But not before informing you about the best plans to do in the city, gastronomy, museums...
Entry to the Begijnhof and the walk through the Flower Market will be possible on morning tours due to the visiting hours of the complex and florists.
And don't forget to ask for our interactive map to continue discovering the most authentic Amsterdam.
IMPORTANT: We do not accept reservations for groups larger than 5 people. If you are interested in taking a tour with us and are a group of more than 5 Walkers, please do not hesitate to contact us through Guruwalk. The reason is that the Amsterdam City Council regulation does not allow groups larger than 15 people per guide, with fines of up to €900.
At the end of our FreeTour, we only accept payments in € euros, we do not accept $ dollars. Payment must be made in cash, we cannot guarantee that card payment will be possible with all our guides. Ask your guide if you need an ATM along the route to avoid inconveniences at the end of the FreeTour.
