Latin Quarter, through the Women of the History of France
Tour description
This tour of the Latin Quarter has a dual purpose: not only will it guide you through some of the most iconic places in the area, but it will also allow you to discover the life and legacy of exceptional women who made history. From the tragic figure of Marie Antoinette, through the brilliant scientist Marie Curie, to the heroic young Joan of Arc, you will learn about the stories of women who defied their time and left an indelible mark on Paris and the entire world.
To know where we are going, it is important to know and understand where we come from. Dacia Maraini, an Italian writer, stated that: 'women, when they die, do so forever, condemned to a double end, of the flesh and oblivion'. We can do nothing about the flesh, but regarding oblivion... we have much to walk.
