Free tour of Le Marais and the Bastille
Description
Do you know medieval Paris? To discover it, we recommend taking this free tour through Le Marais.
Dead-end alleys, narrow streets…
The first stop will be at the Shoah Memorial, the first Jewish documentation center in Europe, which played a crucial role in the Nuremberg trials.
Next, we will go to the garden of the Hôtel de Sens. We will talk about this charming palace where Queen Margot resided. If we look closely, we will see a 19th-century graffiti on its facade.
We will continue the route in Le Village Saint-Paul, a small medieval village. We will discover its past and then face a challenge: entering a dead-end alley and exiting it without turning back. How will we achieve it?
Afterwards, we will go to discover one of the three treasures of Le Marais. We will only give you a hint: it is the only painting by Delacroix that is located outside a museum. After unveiling this mystery, we will stop in front of the imposing facade of the Hôtel de Sully, an elegant palace in Louis XIII style dating from the 17th century.
This will lead us to a wide square. From there, we will continue the route to another iconic esplanade. It is the Place de la Bastille, where the French Revolution began.
