Tour description

Experience the origins of the City of Angels, along with the rise and fall of the San Francisco River.

We'll begin with a walk through the Barrio del Alto, the founding neighborhood of Puebla. We'll visit San Francisco, its former convent, its gardens, and its temple. At this temple, we'll learn a little about the life and work of San Sebastián de Aparicio, the traveling monk who pioneered roads in Puebla. We'll enter the heart of the neighborhood where several historic buildings await us. These include the municipal government building, the Mercado del Alto, and the city's inaugural church. We'll visit the Almoloya wash houses, a historic site.

We'll then walk along Paseo San Francisco to the 5 de Mayo Tunnel, one of the nearly 480-meter-long underground tunnels hidden for centuries beneath Puebla's historic center. This will be an exciting and interactive way to learn the history of the iconic Battle of 5 de Mayo in 1862.

Together we will cross the northern part of the city to the forts, where we will end our tour at Lake La Concordia, on the Loreto fort lookout.

Don't miss this adventure full of mystery, legends, and the city's secrets.
