🎬 Concrete, Light, and Avant-Garde: A Journey Through the Modern Architecture of Paris's 14th Arrondissement
Far from touristy Paris, the Montsouris neighborhood hides an open-air museum of modern architecture. I'm Pedro, and I invite you to explore a rebellious Paris that broke with classical canons to give way to purism and the International Style. A journey to understand how modernity created new ways of thinking about artists' studios and university residences.
We will see (among others):
- Villa Seurat , with the geometric houses of Lurçat.
- The residence of Chana Orloff , by Perret.
- Rue Gauguet and rue Georges Braque , functional homes inhabited by many artists.
- The Maison Ozenfant , Le Corbusier's first Parisian project.
- The Pavillon Suisse and the Maison du Brésil , in the Cité Universitaire.
🌿 From garden terraces to studios bathed in northern light, we'll explore how the Modern Movement transformed housing, art, and the city.
🔑 Finally, we visited the interior of the Pavillon Suisse (€2) and the Maison du Brésil (€1) (tickets not included), two masterpieces by Le Corbusier, a unique opportunity to experience his inhabited architecture: promenade architecturale, Perriand furniture and a living lesson in modern space.
💬 “Modern architecture wasn’t a formula. It was a question: how do we want to live?”
