I’m proud to call Aveiro my home — a beautiful city in Portugal, famous for its charming canals, colorful Moliceiro boats, and Art Nouveau architecture. I’ve always believed that travel is about more than just seeing new places — it’s about genuine connection, authentic experiences, and understanding the true character of a place. That’s why, as a certified guide, I’m committed to guiding with heart, integrity, and respect for my city’s history and traditions. For me, guiding isn’t about rehearsed facts; it’s about creating meaningful moments. I love welcoming people from all over the world, sharing the hidden corners and local flavors that you won’t find in a guidebook, and making everyone feel at home here. I believe in slow, thoughtful exploration — taking the time to appreciate the small details, meet local people, and feel the spirit of Aveiro beyond the postcards. If you value authentic travel and want to discover Aveiro through the eyes of someone who truly loves it, I’d be honored to share my city with you.

Tour description

Aveiro is one of the best places in Portugal to admire Art Nouveau architecture, also known as Modernisme in Catalonia, Jugendstil in Germany, Liberty in Italy, or Secession in Vienna and Prague. This unique style, with its flowing floral and plant motifs, graceful ironwork, and colorful tiles, transforms the city into an open-air museum waiting to be explored.

On this walking tour we’llexplore the most iconique buildings of Art Nouveau — delicate and full of hidden details that make each one a true masterpiece.

But Aveiro’s story doesn’t end with beautiful façades. As we walk through the city, we’ll trace the path of the old city walls. Did you know Aveiro was once a walled city from the 15th to the 19th century? Sadly, nothing remains of the walls today — but we’ll follow their original line, stopping at key places where they once stood. To bring the past to life, I’ll share vintage photographs, helping you see how Aveiro has transformed over the centuries

To complete our experience, we’ll take a short, pleasant 10-minute stroll out to the traditional salinas (salt pans). Here, you’ll discover Aveiro’s centuries-old tradition of salt production.
