Antananarivo tour Step by Step Through Antananarivo’s Story
Tour description
Our journey begins at the Queen’s Palace, the perfect starting point since this is where the history of Antananarivo began. The entrance to the Rova of Manjakamiadana is 40,000 Ariary (≈ 8 € per person). From this hill, the capital took shape, its symbols of power were built, and the first pages of its story were written.
From there, we head to the aristocratic tribunal, where traditional justice was carried out, and then to the Prime Minister’s Palace, a center of power that shows how political authority was organized.
Next, we visit Ambatonakanga, a place of cultural change. With the arrival of missionaries, the city was transformed, and the first Protestant church was built, marking a new era in its spiritual and social life.
We then explore the heart of the city: the artisan markets, Independence Square with its iconic column, and Antananarivo City Hall, symbol of the Republic and a center of today’s political life.
Finally, our tour ends at Antananarivo Railway Station, a colonial monument and former gateway to the rest of Madagascar. This marks the end of our walk but also opens the door to more stories beyond the city.
✨This tour is more than a walk—it is a journey through time, from royal history to the Republic, through cultural change and daily life in Antananarivo.
