My name is Damir Kopljar. I was born and raised in Zagreb, and six years ago I have started working as a tourist guide. I am a historian by profession. I enjoy football, nightlife, and good local cuisine. I love meeting new people and sharing interesting stories about Zagreb—the most beautiful city in the world, of course!

Tour description

This is no ordinary tour. During 90 minutes, you will hear many interesting myths and legends about Zagreb and its past.

We will talk about the legend of how Zagreb got its name, witches, a dragon that is believed to live beneath Zagreb, the Black Queen who made a pact with the devil, and much more.

Tour begins in Zrinjevac Park next to the meteorological column and includes

1. Zrinjevac park

2. Ban Jelačić square (main square)

3. Manduševac fountain,

4. Cathedral,

5. Dolac Market,

6. Tkalčićeva Street(lined with cafés and restaurants)

7.  Bloody Bridge

8.  Stone Gate,

9.  St. Mark’s Square,

10. Lotrščak Tower with cannon that fires at 12:00

11. Zagreb Tunnel,

12. Stunning art deco-style dome of a bank building – a hidden gem many tourists miss.
Tour ends at Jelačić Square.

What sets my tour apart are the historical photos I share during tour to bring stories to life.  For example, I show pictures of the Croatian soldiers who, according to legend, invented the necktie.

The way that I tell stories is really interesting, with a lot of  humor, and I promise you'll laugh at least once during the tour.

During walking tour I will also show you the most famous traditional food that we have in Zagreb and suggest you where to eat or have the best local beer in Zagreb.

Although I am historian, I don't like to burden you with lots of data, but keep in mind that I can answer any of your questions.
