Discover Miami Beach’s iconic Art Deco architecture, the people, fascinating history, and the lush tropical coastal vegetation that makes this city so unique.
Our journey begins at the Wolfsonian–Florida International University, where we’ll set the stage with an introduction to Miami Beach’s iconic Art Deco architecture. You’ll get a concise yet captivating overview of how the city evolved through the 20th and 21st centuries, shaping its distinctive style and identity.
From there, we’ll explore the area between 12th and 13th Streets, uncovering the fascinating and relatively recent origins of Miami Beach. Along the way, we’ll stop by one of the most spectacular landmarks in the neighborhood—Casa Casuarina, the former residence of legendary designer Gianni Versace, now one of the city’s most famous attractions.
Continuing south toward South Pointe, we’ll pass the historic Beach Patrol Headquarters, an emblematic example of Miami’s signature Art Deco design. As we walk, we’ll discover the stories behind the most representative buildings of this architectural movement that defines the heart of the city.
As we make our way to South Pointe Park, you’ll also experience the area’s tropical coastal vegetation, learning how Miami’s unique natural environment has played a vital role in its growth and culture.
We’ll conclude our tour close to sunset time in South Point, a perfect spot for Sunset Celebration.
