Tour description

From Nazi occupation to Communism to the revolution that changed everything, you'll walk the streets where it all happened. This tour takes you through Prague’s New Town, where we tell stories passed down about life in Prague in the 20th Century.

We start at Jan Palach Sq at 10.30 am daily – find the purple umbrella!
  • You’ll learn about:
  • The Nazi Occupation
  • The Heydrich Assassination Plot
  • Communist Czechoslovakia
  • Prague Spring
  • The Velvet Revolution
  • The Dancing House and more famous architecture in New Town
  • Franz Kafka Head, the Upside-Down Horse and famous artists of the time

Prague was caught up in world-defining events and politics from World War II to Communism – we tell you the dramatic stories, but also what it was like for Prague residents during this time.

Learn about the rebels and the spies, the resistance and the everyday acts of bravery. What was communism really like? Come on our tour and you’ll see places that are practically unchanged since those times. See the bullet holes that punctured the crypt where assassins hid out, marvel at the Art Nouveau passageways, and stand where Vaclav Havel shook his keys and demanded freedom for the Czech people.
