This tour explores how a 500-year dynasty endured and how modern Korea rose through dramatic historical events. As a local who lived through Korea’s dynamic decades, I share these stories with authentic personal experiences and global insights.
WHAT WE WILL EXPLORE TOGETHER
1. Underground Exhibition Space (King Sejong & Admiral Yi Sun-sin):
Beneath Gwanghwamun Square, we will visit the underground exhibition halls dedicated to King Sejong and Admiral Yi Sun-sin. Through engaging visual displays, media, and stories, you will discover the invention of Hangul and the legendary Turtle Ship.
2. National Museum of Korean Contemporary History:
Located in a standalone building, this museum covers Korea's modern journey—from Japanese colonization and the Korean War to the economic growth known as the "Miracle on the Han River."
3. Breathtaking Rooftop View:
From the museum’s rooftop garden, enjoy a beautiful panoramic view over Gyeongbokgung Palace, the Blue House, and the surrounding mountains.
OPTION: ROYAL GUARD CHANGING CEREMONY
Except on Tuesdays (palace closed), you can watch the Royal Guard Changing Ceremony at Gyeongbokgung Palace! If you wish to see it, I will finish our tour around 1:50 PM so you can easily head over for the 2:00 PM ceremony.
