Abasto, Cradle of Tango and Porteño Culture Buenos Aires Free Tour

Very interesting and personal tour of the less touristy side of Buenos Aires. We really enjoyed learning about this beautiful and unique neighborhood as well as so much history of tango and the rich arts of the area. Thank you for taking the time to tour with just the two of us!

Joaquin is passionate about the Abasto area and its history. I didn’t know much about BA history, but Joaquin explained it so clearly and with so much enthusiasm for preserving this historic place. I better understand the multiple dynamics that made Buenos Aires what it is today and the role that Tango music and dance played. Joaquin genuinely transferred his love for this area he grew up in, and the admiration he has for Carlos Gardel to me. He even sings and plays the guitar, just like Carlos Gardel did. I’m looking forward to learning more at the Carlos Gardel museum. I give Joaquin 5 stars for transferring his love for this area to me….I highly recommend this tour

Pedro came for the tour even though I was the only person. I couldn’t understand why this was because it was extremely interesting and informative about the History of Buenos Aires and got into the soul of tango, music and dance. Pedro was very enthusiastic, had some amazing old photos of how the people lived in the Abasto area and knew about the history, rises and falls of the people and buildings in the area, these we visited. He was willing to put me in touch with people and venues that would help me develop my interests. Altogether à fantastic experience, Pedro was a perfect guide, I highly recommend this tour.
