Description
This gentle half-day walking route covers the most iconic northern and western waterfronts of West Lake, blending historic landmarks, classical gardens, poetic lotus views and quiet rural lakeside scenery. The whole trail features flat, well-paved lakeside paths, suitable for casual hikers, and takes around 3–4 hours to complete at a leisurely pace. From July to August, lotus flowers fully bloom across West Lake, offering spectacular views of extensive lotus ponds.
The default tour route covers: Beishan Street → Solitary Hill (Gushan) → Yue Temple → Lotus in the Breeze at Crooked Courtyard (Quyuan Fenghe) → Guozhuang Garden → Maojiabu. I will walk you through the classic scenic spots, share fascinating stories behind these historic sites and natural landscapes, and also recommend authentic local delicacies for you.
It will be a free tour (but you shall pay the admission fees for yourself to Yue Temple and Guozhuang Garden). Most scenic spots along this route are free entry; only Yue Temple and Guozhuang Garden charge modest admission fees as below
- Admission fee to Yue Temple: 25 RMB
- Admission fee to Guozhuang Garden: 10 RMB
