Hidden Venice: Death, Faith, and Carnival
We begin alongside the Grand Canal, at the imposing church of San Simeone Piccolo, the gateway to the Dorsoduro District that few tourists know. From there, we delve into the heart of the Venetian brotherhoods: the Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista, custodian of one of the most revered relics of Christianity.
We continue among churches, squares, and historic alleys — Frari, San Rocco, San Pantaleon — discovering how faith, art, and power intertwined in the daily life of the Serenissima. Along the way, the carnival appears where you least expect it: in masks, in palaces, and in stories that remain alive.
We pass through the lively Campo Santa Margherita, cross a sotoportego with noble secrets, and arrive at the Squero di San Trovaso, one of the last gondola workshops.
The tour culminates in front of the Giudecca Canal, from where we gaze at the Redeemer in the distance — the vow Venice made to God to survive the plague — with the Redeemer and the Salute, we remember the promises of this city that never forgot its wounds.
A tour exploring less touristy places in the south of Venice, discovering incredible and dark stories at the same time.
