"Free Tour" The Lost Kingdom of Ryukyu: History, Legends and Panoramic Views in Shuri
On this tour, we'll walk around the majestic Shuri Castle, the heart of the ancient Ryukyu Kingdom. But this won't be a boring history lesson; I'll tell you how this small island was once an independent kingdom that traded throughout Asia, developing a unique culture unlike anything you'll see elsewhere in Japan.
What will we do on this tour?
The Gates of History: We will begin at the emblematic Shureimon, a symbol of Ryukyu courtesy.
Architecture and Resilience: I will tell you about the reconstruction of the castle and how the spirit of "Ichariba Chode" (once we meet, we are brothers) keeps this community alive.
Sacred Stone Paths: We will walk along the ancient stone causeways of Kinjo-cho, a place that will make you feel like you have traveled back in time.
Panoramic Views: We will finish at a strategic point with the best views of Naha, perfect for your souvenir photos.
Important information about the entrance:
The main tour covers the free areas and historical surroundings. However, if you wish to enter the interior of Shuri Castle (the reconstructed area), the entrance fee is not included and is the responsibility of each visitor (400 yen, approximately US$2.50). It is entirely optional!
