Black Church The Black Church is the most important Gothic monument in Romania and one of the largest medieval churches in Eastern Europe. Located in the center of Brașov, it was built between the 14th and 15th centuries by the Transylvanian Saxon community. Its name comes from the great fire of 1689, which blackened the church’s walls. Today, it is famous for its impressive Gothic architecture, collection of Oriental carpets, and its monumental organ used for classical music concerts.
