Prima volta in città? Ecco un tour dedicato a guidarti attraverso ciò che forma Taiwan come società oggi. Siamo un orgoglioso paese insulare democratico, ma dietro i vivaci mercati notturni di Taipei e lo skyline moderno si cela una storia turbolenta di dittatura, resistenza e identità.
Iniziando dall'iconico Memoriale di Chiang Kai-shek e Piazza della Libertà, questo tour esplora la drammatica trasformazione di Taiwan dopo la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, quando il Giappone consegnò l'isola alla Repubblica di Cina e Chiang Kai-shek stabilì decenni di governo autoritario.
Mentre camminiamo attraverso il cuore politico della città passando per l'Edificio dell'Ufficio Presidenziale e il Parco Memoriale della Pace 228, scopriremo le storie dietro l'Incidente del 228, l'era del Terrore Bianco, la repressione politica e la lunga lotta per la democrazia e la libertà di parola.
Il tour si conclude nelle vivaci strade di Ximending, dove la cultura giovanile moderna, l'attivismo e la cultura pop riflettono il dibattito in corso sull'identità taiwanese e il posto dell'isola nel mondo di oggi. Questo non è solo un tour storico, è la storia di come è stata plasmata la Taiwan moderna, di come siamo diventati una società vibrante e di cosa significa il futuro per il popolo taiwanese.

Ciao! Sono Harold, il mio nome taiwanese è Yun (允); non è così facile da pronunciare come sembra, è più simile alla dieresi tedesca (ü). Se la linguistica non è il vostro campo di battaglia, Harold è il nome con cui mi chiamano persone di tutto il mondo, e apprezzo sinceramente ogni coraggioso tentativo. Parlo fluentemente inglese, mandarino e taiwanese, e lungo la strada ho deciso di imparare anche spagnolo, olandese e sloveno (lo so, è strano), con diversi livelli di fluidità. I miei interessi sono la storia, la politica, le lingue e il cibo, il che significa che potrei passare ore a discutere di colonialismo, dialetti in via di estinzione, ravioli, o di tutte e tre le cose contemporaneamente. Sono un fiero abitante di Taipei e una guida turistica certificata, quindi potete contare su di me non solo per le storie imperdibili e gli approfondimenti culturali, ma anche per quel tipo di curiosità insolita che un giorno potrebbe salvare la vostra squadra a un quiz. We were incredibly lucky to have this free tour with Harold! We loved everything!! From the way he presented things to his perfect English, which made him so easy to understand (we are spanish). Everything he shared with us was super interesting. It was through this tour that we finally gained a clear understanding of Taiwan’s history. He also took us to some truly fascinating and beautiful spots. Thank you so much, Harold, I really hope we can cross paths again!

I did three Taipei tours via three different guides and Harold was my favourite. For anyone who gets bored more easily by information overload, Harold presents historical events the way history is meant to be presented - as facts, but also human stories that are relevant to us today. I found his speech cadence to be very adhd friendly. While some of the essential information about Taiwan from his tour is covered by other tour guides, his information is condensed to the right amount. On top of that, he covers a few "murder mysteries" figures that I didn't get from museums nor other tours. I found them to be quite impactful and invaluable. Please give your business to Harold! He's truly passionate about Taiwan.
