Essential free tour of Lastres

We will continue to the Church of Santa María de Sabada, a designated Site of Cultural Interest, where we will discuss the Asturian and Roman heritage and the historical importance of Lastres as one of Asturias's wealthiest and most commercially vibrant maritime ports after the Middle Ages. Afterwards, we will visit the House of Doctor Mateo, the setting for the popular television series, to learn about the evolution of life in this town filled with stately homes and Baroque palaces.

The walk will continue past emblematic sites such as the old washhouse, the La Regallina fountain, and the Clock Tower, while we discover the role of women through trades that are still practiced today, such as net mending and canning; as well as the whaling tradition and its illustrious figures like Agustín Pedrayes. We will finish by exploring the neighborhoods of La Atalaya and La Nansa, with views of the port, while delving into the maritime traditions and local cuisine of Lastres.
