Essential Free Tour of Getxo

We will begin the free tour in Algorta, one of the most distinctive areas of Getxo, where we will discover how this old fishing enclave has evolved into one of the most emblematic areas of the town.

From here we'll head towards Algorta's Old Port , a picturesque collection of narrow streets and white houses that has preserved its traditional character. Strolling through its corners, we'll learn about the history of the fishermen and their connection to the sea.

We'll continue our tour along the coast until we reach Ereaga Beach , one of Getxo's most iconic landmarks. While enjoying the views, we'll discuss the area's transformation into a tourist destination and its connection to the Biscayan bourgeoisie.

The next stop will take us to the Punta Begoña galleries in Neguri, a space full of history and unique architecture that will allow us to understand the economic boom of the area and the development of the great stately residences.

We will continue towards Las Arenas (Areeta) , where the atmosphere changes to show us a more urban and dynamic area, key to the modern growth of Getxo.

We will end the tour next to the monument to Evaristo Churruca , a key figure in the history of the port of Bilbao, where we will put into context the importance of the infrastructure and the industrial development of the estuary, while enjoying a beautiful panoramic view of the Getxo suspension bridge .
