Hidden Kobe: Shrine, Kimono, Street Food & Tea — A Local Walk
The tour lasts 2 hours
Available in English
Description
Let's take a relaxed walk through Kobe, stopping by spots like Ikuta Shrine and Chinatown while strolling slowly through the shopping streets that are part of everyday local life here.
We'll meet at Sannomiya and head to Ikuta Shrine, one of Kobe's oldest and most beloved shrines, where I'll show you how locals pay their respects. From there, we'll wander into local kimono shops, stroll through Motomachi shopping street and Kobe's lively Chinatown (Nankinmachi), tasting local street food along the way. As a Japanese language teacher, I can also make the walk a fun chance to pick up a little Japanese as we go. We'll finish with a relaxing break at a traditional Japanese tea shop.
Additional costs: street food around ¥300–800 per item, and Japanese tea at the café around ¥600–1,500. You can choose and order whatever you like, so you're free to spend as much or as little as you want.
Guide: Aki
Guiding since 2026Hi, I'm Aki! I'm a Japanese language teacher based in the Osaka–Kobe area, and I love helping travelers experience the real Japan. For me, a great tour isn't just about famous spots — it's about real conversation, local food, and genuine connection with the people who live here. I'll even teach you a few Japanese phrases you can actually use on your trip! My tours are slow-paced, friendly, and personal — like exploring with a local friend. I can't wait to show you around!
