A Relaxed Walk through Tours: Architecture, Hidden Corners & Conversation
The tour lasts 2 hours
Available in English
Description
Most visitors come to Tours mainly as a gateway to the Loire Valley castles. But the city deserves more than a quick stop on the way to somewhere else.
During this relaxed two-hour walk, I’ll take you through some of Tours’ most attractive areas: the charming Old Town, the Cathedral district and the banks of the Loire. Along the way, I’ll also show you some less obvious corners that I discovered while wandering through the city I now call home, as well as a few of my favourite buildings, architecture is one of my great interests.
Please note that this is not a traditional, history-heavy guided tour or an academic lecture about Tours. I moved to the Loire Valley three years ago and I am still exploring the city, learning about its history and developing this walk.
What I offer is a personal and conversational discovery of Tours. I’ll share the stories, details and anecdotes that have caught my attention, while also leaving plenty of room for questions, conversation and getting to know one another.
I have been leading private walking tours in Paris for more than ten years, but my style has always been closer to that of a curious and welcoming local host than a guide delivering a rehearsed speech.
If you are looking for an expert-led historical tour, with detailed dates and in-depth information about every monument, this may not be the right walk for you.
However, if you are curious, enjoy architecture and unexpected details and prefer a friendly conversation to a formal lecture, then we should have a lovely time exploring Tours together.
Guide: Murielle
Guiding since 2026Hi! I'm Murielle, a French local guide living in the beautiful Loire Valley.
After spending almost 30 years in Paris, I moved to the Tours region to enjoy a different lifestyle and explore one of the most fascinating parts of France.
I love history, architecture, local culture, and discovering hidden gems that many visitors would otherwise miss.
Before becoming a guide, I worked as a data scientist for many years. Now, I combine my curiosity, attention to detail, and passion for meeting people from all over the world.
I'm a bit of a language addict! I speak French, English, Spanish, and a little German, Italian, Portuguese... and I'm always happy to try a few words in other languages too!
Whether you're interested in history, local life, or simply want to discover Tours, Amboise, or Montlouis-sur-Loire through a local's eyes, I'd be delighted to share my region with you.
If you'd like this tour at a different time or in another language, please send me a message. I'll be happy to check availability and let you know what's possible.
