Two of the Costa Blanca's most photogenic inland spots are the star turns of this tour. You'll visit the fairytale village of Guadalest and the serene Algar waterfalls. Expect amazing scenery and a dramatic drive as you twist and turn along narrow mountain roads. Sofia, one of our expert local guides, says"even though there isn't much left standing of the castle in Guadalest, it's well worth visiting because it has the best views. You'll get fabulous photos of the bell tower that tops the ridge, the smooth, carpet-like reservoir in the valley and the mountains tumbling down to the coast. You can even see the sea."
First up is Guadalest. The jewel in the crown of the Costa Blanca interior clings to a rocky outcrop amid some of the most romantic scenery imaginable. Wander the village's dozen or so streets, which are home to eight museums, and pass through tunnels carved into the rock. As you weave up the cobbled lanes towards the top of the ridge, the views over the valley just get better and better.
Then it's on to one of the natural wonders of the Costa Blanca – the Algar waterfalls. With pebble beaches, deep blue pools, mossy channels and thundering cascades, it's like a natural waterpark. Stroll along the trail to the sparkling clear pools of the River Algar and admire some of Mother Nature's finest work. Sofia says "the water here is beautiful, clean and refreshingly cold even in the height of summer, because it flows directly from sources high in the mountains."
