Escape the city streets and discover the hidden natural gems of Southern Poland. This bike tour combines historical city landmarks, typical Polish countryside, and the limestone landscapes of the Ojców National Park.
I. City Rivalries & Sacred Grounds We begin our journey near Błonia, this historic field has hosted Papal masses and the massive World Youth Day. As we set off, you’ll find yourself between two legendary stadiums: Wisła Kraków and Cracovia. These clubs have shared a fierce "Holy War" rivalry for over 100 years.
II. The Manor As we head north, we pass the Dworek Białoprądnicki, a historic manor house linked to the legendary Polish play "The Wedding". From here, the asphalt fades away as we hit a beautiful single-track trail along the Białucha stream. This green corridor leads us out of the city through the Prądnik Valley.
III. Villages & Forest Paths We then enter the world of the typical Polish countryside. We’ll stop in Giebułtów to see the charming, small Church of St. Giles. Leaving the village, our real adventure begins as we enter a forest trail that weaves through fields, slowly descending into the limestone ravines of Ojców National Park.
IV. The Canyon We enter the heart of the park, cycling beneath towering limestone cliffs. You’ll pass the Kraków Gate, a monumental natural rock formation. Along the way, notice the typical wooden architecture that are now a rarity in Poland.
Pro tip: This area is full of hidden spots. Depending on the group's needs, we can detour for a coffee or lunch: Ojców Trout, served fresh from the local fishery.
V. Castles, Hermitages & The Club of a Giant The trail reveals the romantic ruins of the Ojców Castle, a 14th-century fortress perched on a hill. We also visit the Hermitage of Blessed Salomea, a serene spot hidden in the rocks. The climax of the park is the Hercules' Club (Maczuga Herkulesa)—a 25-meter tall rock monolith that stands defiantly next to the perfectly preserved Pieskowa Skała Castle.
VI. The Return: Gorges and Rapeseed Fields On the way back, our route opens up into vast meadows and yellow rapeseed fields (in spring), dotted with smaller limestone rocks. We enter the Bolechowice Valley, cycling along the humble Bolechówka stream. We will pass through the Bolechowice Gate—two massive limestone pillars that mark the entrance to this climber’s paradise.
VII. The River Path Back to the Heart of Kraków The Bolechówka stream flows into the Rudawa River, and we follow its scenic banks through the Zabierzów Forest. This flat, relaxing river path takes us all the way back to the center of Kraków, finishing right where we started at the Błonia meadows.
