Discover one of the world's most renowned cheeses within its birthplace. Our journey will take us through Gouda's historic market, where we'll sample four distinct types of cheese and learn about their production processes.
Day Trip Overview
Departing from central Amsterdam, we will head towards Gouda, a city celebrated for its cheese. Interestingly, Gouda cheese accounts for 60% of the cheese produced in the Netherlands—a remarkable statistic!
Upon arrival, we'll delve into the vibrant market, which has retained its charm despite growing popularity among tourists. This market serves as a hub for local producers and shoppers, standing out alongside Edam and Alkmaar as one of the few authentic traditional marketplaces still operating in the Netherlands.
Following our market visit, we will partake in a cheese tasting experience at the historic "Waag," where cheese was traditionally weighed before being sold—and continues to be so today.
After the tasting concludes, we'll enjoy a guided exploration of the city's historical center, passing notable sites such as the Town Hall and Sint-Jan Church. After the guided tour, you will have some free time to wander and shop at your leisure.
We will return to Amsterdam after a fulfilling total of 7 hours.
The meeting point may vary. Always check the tickets we sent you to confirm the final details before the activity.
