On this evening excursion to Fátima, we'll visit one of the most famous Marian shrines and witness the Candlelight Procession.
Description
At the designated time, we'll meet at Praça Marquês de Pombal, where we'll board the minibus for our journey to Fátima.
After approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes, we'll arrive at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima, a notable pilgrimage site. Our first stop will be the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, where we can find the funerary monuments of the three shepherd children who reported divine encounters with the Virgin Mary in 1917.
We'll also explore the Sanctuary of the Holy Trinity and the Chapel of the Apparitions, which marks the spot of the Virgin Mary's appearance to the shepherds. The Candlelight Procession starts at 9:30 pm, featuring the original statue of the Virgin of Fátima and the recitation of the Rosary.
During this ceremony, pilgrims will silently follow the Virgin with lit candles as her statue moves across the esplanade, returning to the chapel. The ambiance created by the candles and prayers fosters a profound atmosphere.
After the procession, lasting about 1 hour and 15 minutes, we'll return to Lisbon, arriving at our starting point 5 hours after pickup.
