La visita al Museo del Oro me sorprendió mucho. Ya había visitado otro museo antes, pero la experiencia con nuestro guía, José David, fue completamente diferente. We had a very interesting visit to the Gold Museum focused on the the El Dorado legend with our guide, José David. He is a very professional, educated, and passionate guide, and it was clear that he has deep knowledge of Colombian history. We were impressed by how far back he went into the past (10 000 years), explaining the role of shamans, indigenous beliefs, and the differences between various cultures in a very structured and meaningful way. The tour was conducted in English, and while it was informative, we believe it would have been even more enriching if we had taken it in Spanish, as Jose David’s explanations are clearly very deep and nuanced. His English is good, but with some improvement it would allow him to transmit his knowledge even more effectively to international visitors. Overall, it was a valuable and memorable experience, and we truly appreciated his dedication and passion for the subject.

I’ve done many walking tours, and this was one of the most unique experiences as it was like a personalized tour of a museum where you get to pick only the things that you want to know about. Jose David was very knowledgeable and kept a good pace and made it a lot of fun. If you’re interested in Colombian history from a local perspective, this is the tour for you.
