Matt delivered a great evening walking tour that went beyond the usual highlights. In a small group, he created space for real conversation and deeper understanding. He did not show us the highlights, he pulled back the curtain on aspects of everyday Japanese life that certainly don’t make it into tourist brochures. It was informative and genuinely thought provoking. If you want insight into the ‘darker’ side, rather than surface snapshots, this tour is worth every step.
Ayumi is an outstanding guide. She led the tour with calm confidence and deep knowledge, bringing every stop to life with clear and engaging explanations. Her passion for the history and culture was obvious, and she kept us all interested from beginning to end. Every question ( and we had a lot 😆 ) was answered thoughtfully and with real insight. The pace was perfect and the experience felt seamless. I would highly recommend her to anyone wanting a memorable tour.
An absolutely outstanding tour with Bryant. This deep dive into the underworld of Japanese culture, focussing on the sex and services industry, was utterly fascinating and incredibly thought provoking. Bryant’s personal knowledge is obvious from the outset, and his descriptions are vivid, honest, and delivered with total authenticity. It is clear he has truly lived within this environment, which makes detail all the more real and powerful. This tour was courageous, eye opening, and utterly unforgettable.
Zuzanna was a fantastic guide … engaging and full of fascinating insights into Japanese culture. She answered all my questions with great knowledge, and the tour never felt rushed. We did the whole thing while it was snowing heavily, which somehow made it even more memorable. A brilliant introduction to Tokyo and a great way to start my time here. I’d happily recommend this tour to anyone.
Ale is a great guide: energetic, knowledgeable, and connected to Taipei’s history and culture. She navigated the busy streets with ease while bringing Taiwanese stories to life in a way that felt natural and engaging. The tour was perfectly paced, with thoughtful stops to sample local favourites like traditional tea and the famous pineapple cake, adding real texture to the experience. This wasn’t just a walk through the city, but a walk through its history, visualised by the architecture and religion. Highly recommended.
