Saša - Stadtführer in Pula

We really enjoyed the tour. Usual formal information but also very funny stuff, things of specific interest that people in a group had were covered. It was fun getting to know the origine of chess in the coat of arm of Croatia and about connection of French people and Croatian ties.

Saša's tour was definitely a highlight of our one-week stay in Pula. We're so glad we decided to take the tour on our first day, as it helped us get acquainted with a city we knew little about and provided an honest, local perspective on where to go and what to avoid. We joined the tour with our 17-year-old son, who was initially hesitant about signing up for a walking tour. However, Saša turned out to be a charismatic, articulate, and humorous storyteller. By the end of the tour, our teenage son thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the portion about the amphitheater and gladiators. I found Saša's insights into Pula's geopolitical history, diverse cultural influences, and blended identity particularly compelling, with vivid imagery and a human touch. The tour included a mix of history, culture, music, and food. Speaking of food, we dined at one of his recommended restaurants, Piazza Nove, where we enjoyed delicious homemade pasta and excellent customer service. We also indulged in ice cream at Aroma, another of his suggestions. We felt comfortable trusting Saša's recommendations because he doesn't receive commissions or have any vested interests in the places he mentioned. I hadn’t planned on bringing alcohol back home since we had another stop in Europe, but he took us to a family-owned distillery called Aura, where we enjoyed free tastings. I loved the Teranino so much that I decided to go back and buy a bottle after all. The walk itself was at a comfortable pace—neither rushed nor too slow—and was enjoyable even in the heat, as Saša ensured we spent most of our time in shaded areas. I also appreciated that he scheduled breaks for us to use the restroom and refill our water. He also ended letting us know that we can go communicate with him at any point during our stay in Pula to ask any questions so it felt more like we had a local friend we can count on. This experience sure beat guided tours we've been on in the past! Highly recommend.
