Hello! Thank you very much for joining the tour and for taking the time to share your feedback. I understand that you were hoping to hear more about maiko and geiko culture. While the tour takes place in Gion, the district is much more than only maiko and geiko culture, and is also deeply connected to Kyoto’s religious and samurai history. The tour included places within the wider Gion area such as Gion Shijo Ohashi Bridge, Shirakawa Lane, Chion-in Temple, and Maruyama Park. Because of the history connected to these locations, much of the tour focused on religion, samurai history, and Kyoto’s cultural background. Among these locations, Shirakawa Lane was the main stop related to maiko and geiko culture. There, I gave an introduction to their world, but I personally chose not to go too deeply into the topic in only a few minutes, as I feel the lives, training, and artistry of maiko and geiko deserve deeper respect and understanding rather than being oversimplified. Since Shirakawa Lane was the only stop specifically connected to maiko and geiko culture, the rest of the tour naturally focused more on the historical and religious background of the other places we visited. I truly appreciate your honest feedback, and I am sorry the tour did not fully match your expectations.
