⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I wish I could give her 1,000 stars! My daughter and I had the BEST experience on this tour. Our guide was beautiful, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable. She was punctual, gave us rich history, chose amazing foods (the dumplings were delicious!), and even offered to pay when our WeChat wasn’t working. She went above and beyond — she walked us to our taxi afterward, checked our DiDi app, and made sure we were headed to the right place and got home safely. It felt like exploring Shenzhen with a friend, not a stranger. So refreshing to have an English-speaking guide who helped us understand the city and even gave us tips on places to visit later. We exchanged information, and I truly feel like I’ve gained a friend I’ll come back to see again. My forever guide 😊 Highly recommend! Jan
I joined the GuruWalk tour in Shenzhen and really enjoyed exploring the local fish market—it was a fascinating experience and gave us a unique glimpse into the city’s daily life. We also stopped at a couple of interesting stores along the way, which added some nice variety to the tour. Even though I don’t know Chinese, I could tell that the guide seemed knowledgeable and had the right information. However, since she needed another person to translate into English, a lot of the details and flow were lost during the translation. As a guide, I think it’s important to have stronger direct communication in English so that the experience feels smoother and more engaging. On the positive side, she was on time and easy to find—she even had a sign with my name on it, which I really appreciated. In that aspect, communication was excellent, but it didn’t carry through the whole tour. Another issue was with payment. We were asked for 400 RMB, but GuruWalk states that contributions are optional tips ranging from $10 to $55. It felt like the guide expected the 400 RMB, which was uncomfortable and a bit unfair. In the end, we paid less, but I think that should be clarified better. Overall, the tour had some strong highlights, and I appreciated the effort, but clearer communication and a fairer approach to tips would make the experience much better.
The guide told me about the features of Shekou district, the construction of houses, and the life of local people. I also tried different types of dishes, such as meatballs, zongzi, and a delicious dessert with fruit and coconut milk. After that, we took the subway to a nearby station, and the guide also shared information about the history of Shenzhen and this area. Thank you for your time.
The trip was great! Cool schedule, amazing food, and I learned heaps about Shenzhen's past and its food scene. The guru had these fun games that made learning the history and picking up some Chinese way easier. She used Guangdong's unique dishes to tell us all about traditional Chinese medicine – super interesting!
The tour guide was very knowledgeable about humanities and history. She explained the history and culture of Guangdong to us, detailing the local customs, lifestyle habits, and historical background and reasons behind the unique dietary habits of the people in Guangdong. She also talked about the ingredients and production processes of the delicious dishes, giving each dish a soul and meaning. We tasted the unique and delicious Cantonese cuisine and heard historical stories about Guangdong and Shenzhen. The guide also took us to the local market, where we got to know various ingredients and seasonings. We even visited the Sea World, which is a fusion of Chinese and Western cultures, and it's very beautiful. The guide showed us what this place looked like twenty years ago, and it was really stunning! The guide shared with us the daily lives of the locals: work, healthcare, education, housing, income, etc., allowing us to gain a more direct understanding of the real life of Chinese people. Today has truly been a wonderful journey, and I suggest you don't miss this experience when coming to Shenzhen.
