Genoveva is very kind and insightful, clearly has a great understanding of the history of each location we went to. Because it was just the two of us, she went into further detail with me about the symbology of the mythological motifs, etc, which made the tour even more interesting!
I had a private tour! Obviously this was a very passionate topic for Geoveva. I learned a lot!
It was during a torrential rain season so I was the only walker. So it ended out like a private tour to walk around the temples of Yuanshan area. Genoveva gave me a very helpful guide and introductions of Taiwan and told me a lot of very interesting cultural aspect of daily life of Taiwanese asides the main gist of the temple tour. The tour itself is very educational and introduced a lot of interesting Chinese folklores and how they relate to the daily life of a Taiwanese. We walked through a Japanese Zen temple, a Confucius temple, a park dedicated of the folklore of the medicine god, Bao Sheng Da Di and Dalong Baoan Temple. Interesting folklores and explaintion of the history behind the area were explained in a very interesting and fun way. If you want a Chinese folklores style of a walking tour in a quieter area in Taiwan, this will be it.
