At Robin and the Tourguides, we take pride in being a truly local company. We believe in the power of community and fairness. This means supporting local businesses and partners, ensuring that our collaborations are mutually beneficial and sustainable. It also means providing fair working conditions for our employees and guides, so they can continue to share their love for Hamburg with the same enthusiasm and dedication that makes our tours outstanding.
The tour started out relatively well but took an unpleasant turn which left me with a very bad feeling. We visited the red light district and the guide talked about what the prostitution situation is like in the city - fair enough. What I wasn’t expecting was him extensively defending and even advocating for the legalization of prostitution because it’s “like any other kind of work” and “good money for the women”. He then proceeded to make fun of a previous group he’d been a guide for, feminist activists who had questioned his standpoint. When I, too, challenged him on his views, he refused to hear me out. People are entitled to their opinions, but I would expect a tour guide to be more neutral in their professional role, especially about such an exploitative “industry”. As a woman, this situation made me extremely uncomfortable, and I would not recommend this tour.
Really good experience.
